Tokyo Game Show: Super Mario Stamps

Posted on Friday September 22nd, 2006 at 6:06pm by ToddMowatt

Here in Japan, they love their video games. Nothing could illustrate this point more than what I am about to tell you.

Gamers who love Mario can send letters to their friends and family within Japan by purchasing Super Mario Stamps. The stamps can only be used for letters within Japan and they cost $25 for a book of 10.

We went into three different postal outlets in Tokyo proper looking for the stamps and of course they were sold out.

One of the clerks let us take a picture of a set of her Super Mario Stamps.

Word on the street has it that Square Enix the makers of the Final Fantasy and Dragon's Quest series are lobbying the Japanese government to make Final Fantasy and Dragon's Quest stamps available.

Some quick checking online and you can buy the Super Mario stamps from Vision Inc. for 3,150 Yen ($29) off of their website at www.visioninc.co.jp/consumer_mario.html.
